Stop Making Excuses - Start Making Progress

Stop making excuses. It is as simple as that.

The reason you're not where you want to be isn't because of some external source or reason, it is because you're not willing to do what ever it takes to get the job done.

We get a lot of questions from tribe members on training with minimal equipment or modifying the training programs to meet their needs. These people are solutions focused, instead of problem focused, this is the type of person you need to be, these people are winners.

So you've had a tough year, so what what are you going to do about it? So you're lacking motivation, so what, what are you going to do about it? So you're lacking direction, so what, what are you going to do about it? What ever your situation is, what are YOU going to do about it?

This is something I learned at a young age, life is tough, sometimes it will suck, but guess what, nobody cares and no one is coming to fix it for you, so, what are YOU going to do about it. I learned that if I wanted things to get better for me I had to walk my own path, I had to live my own life and to do that I needed to have a goal or a direction to walk in. This is how I joined the Army.

The question I have for you is simple, what do you want to achieve and how do you plan on achieving it? This is a simple exercise to go through and it is highly effective.

The next thing I want to cover is, don't make excuses along the way. It isn't harder for you than it is for anyone else, if you hit a road block, stop, take a few combat breaths, forge a plan and then fight on.

A great example is another one of our tribe members that had the courage to take on the Military Mental Toughness Program. As he made his way through it, he found that he was starting to feel burnt out, ok cool, stop the program right? Wrong!

Instead of quitting, look at what can be done instead of what can't be done. I gave him multiple courses of action.

1. Cut away the peak and challenge events

2. Drop one circuit and interval training session per week away

3. Drop all of the conditioning work away

So many people think short term, he has the Military Mental Toughness Program for life, so why quit because you can't complete it all straight away? It is meant to be a challenge after all! He could go through the program 3 times, with the 3rd time being his opportunity to achieve his goal and to crush the program from start to finish.

When you stop making excuses, you start making progress.

Now ask yourself, where are you going and how are you going to get there?

No excuses, lets go!
